A visit by
the lady in the red coat

We
were looking forward to her arrival to Subotica very much. Katy
Love, Assistant Program Officer of The Global Fund for Children
(GFC) seated in Washington, responsible for programmes in the
United States
and Eastern Europe, came from overseas to visit us on 28 and 29
March. The purpose of her journey was, among other things, to
meet the coordinators and members of Club 21 – Association for
Positive Communication, the leaders of Moonlight Clubs, the
Councillor of Youth and Sport Affairs of the Local Government,
and some members of the private sector, who support the
Moonlight Programme of our civil organization in the sprit of
corporate social responsibility. She was most happy, however,
when she met the children and young people in the Moonlight
Clubs and in the American Corner Moonlight operating in the Town
Library of Subotica.
Needless
to say, we prepared for receiving her enthusiastically.
Interestingly enough, however, her hosts were not trying to be
overly professional, but rather to introduce to this traveller
from a distant continent in these brief two days the special
multi-ethnic culture of the northern corner of the Balcans, so
that apart from getting to know the real problems of local youth,
she should also have a great time, in a sort of really local way.
There is
not enough space here to describe in detail the eventful
programme of Katy Love’s visit (let the photos speak for
themselves). There is one thing, however, I would like to say
about our visitor. This open-minded lady, a master of informal
communication, taught us – modestly, and with wisdom untypical
of young professionals – how to truly appreciate human values.
Thank you dear Katy. We learnt the lesson.
