Dezso,
Thank you and Moonlight club very much for the lovely picture I
was
given by the young man. Here you can see I took the picture on a
tour of
Washington, DC. I took it with me to the White House! You can
see it's a
very lovely spring here.
Thanks for this wonderful picture....
Warmly, Katy

Dear Dezso
and Evi,
Congratulations on the remarkable achievement! This is one of
those rare occasions when hard work produces the desired result.
I think this decision is absolutely justified and I was also
happy to read the lines of the letter raising hope for the
future too. Árpád sometimes, in his week moments, tells the
prominent members of our pack of dogs: ‘”You don’t even know how
lucky you are!” – and I think we can tell the same about the
Moonlight children. Not many people care about stray dogs, and
not many about stray children either, especially with so much
selflessness and steadfastness. We wish you all the best!
Kind
regards,
Csilla &

Dear Dezso,
I
apologize for not writing to you for so long, but for the
basketball team of Szentendre the past six months were extremely
busy. However, from time to time I read the website of the
Moonlight Club, and I was happy to see that stunning development
you underwent recently. Night sport for youth really became a
serious movement in Subotica now, thanks to your persistent work,
and your great sense of strategy and diplomacy! Congratulations!
I presume you also think back with a smile on your face to the
first club nights, when you were counting the children nervously
and wondering how many of them would turn up? It has been now
undoubtedly proven true that there is a real need for sensible
free time activities and kind words among children, and your
“network” by now almost covers the whole town! I think the
involvement of the Teacher Training Faculty was a great idea,
especially since this is also a great opportunity for the
students to gain professional experience. I would also like to
congratulate Andrija Romić, since I feel he also had a
significant share in these results by supporting night sport for
youth in these poor times. I am sorry I couldn't come with Péter
Jakab to Subotica – my excuse is that our adolescent basketball
team was playing in the finals In Budaörs that day, and my son
Áron is also a member of the team, so I went to cheer for them!
Best wishes,
Feri

Dear Mr Kią,
Thank you for your kind letter. I am also very happy
to have had the chance to participate in this great event this
year again. I am proud of everyone who engage in such notable
work in the field of civil initiatives. Let me thank you this
time for the “Moonlight” and all you are doing for
those children for whom society barely does anything otherwise,
and still marvel that they appear in the crime news.
I wish you all the best in your private life as well as in our
common work with which we wish to make our country more humane
and more acceptable for the people living in it.
Kind regards,
Sonja Licht

Dear Mr Kią,
Thank you for your appreciative
opinion. I think, even if not from the foreground but rather
from the background, I would like to continue supporting you and
your Moonlight work. It is truly a great pleasure to hear that
the news about work like this is carried so far, since it tells
about how people and lives can be saved from possible
derailment. Young people who are now struggling with identity
search or identity crisis will not understand this yet, at the
time when they receive the help, but only later, when some years
have passed. I wish you to have strength and determination to
continue this work for a long time.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Zoltán Sági

Dear Mr Dezső Kiss!
I was delighted to hear the news. I am very pleased that the
Moonlight Programme is spreading at such pace and with such
content. I was just thinking about it today at the usual morning
hospital department meeting, that it seems to me that we meet
less new drug addiction cases during our everyday work. I
dare say that this is thanks to the Moonlight Club programme
too. I have not looked into up-to-date reports, so I rely on my
impression, when I say this. Of course old, relapsed addicts
still visit us persistently. However, if the number of new cases
falls, we can already talk about good results. We should keep on
fighting in the front line – which is above all your work
–, since that is the most important we can do. This is
what we must do. And it is quite a lot!
Keep on the good work!
Sincerely:
Dr Zoltán Sági

I
read your website and I was happy to be informed about the work
and aims of the Moonlight Club.
Congratulations to Dezső Kiss on his community-forming
activity, which offers help for the youth in spending their free
time in a useful way.
There should be a lot more Clubs and selfless professionals like
this to guide youth towards positive a view and approach to
life.

Dear Moonlighters!
The
power of sport in developing solidarity and forming community is
unquestionable. It has proven many times in many different
situations that it is one of those forces which are the most
efficient in developing a healthy personality.
Today, when our society is transforming, and when traditional
institutions of youth education have lost the conventional role
they used to have in the past and the role of parents also needs
to be re-defined, it is a blessing that you can get together in
such Clubs, make friends there and fill your evenings with a
valuable content.
It is good to know that there are adults who aren’t only
fussing like the Businessman in the Little Prince, but, as
healthy seeds, collect the “vital fluids” around
themselves and are building the institution of a responsible
society.
Many of us truly appreciate the results you achieved. All the
feedback that we received in our magazine Új
Kép as responses to the coverage we published about you are
clear proof of that.
So
on Moonlight night you
rule!

The
letter was “delivered” to Subotica and read at the
first home table tennis championship of Moonlight Club 1 by Péter
Jakab.
Dear Friends!
I
warmly welcome all of you. Since the beginning of the Moonlight
movement I have always considered it important, that this noble
cause should not only gain ground in Hungary but in other
countries too. After Germany, Romania and Ukraine, thanks to the
efforts of my dear friend Dezső Kiss there are, as far as I
know, already three Clubs operating in Serbia and Montenegro.
Of course my friend Dezső couldn’t have realized this
alone. A team of benevolent people came together, whose names
– without trying to be exhaustive – I would like to
mention: Dezső Kiss, as coordinator, Andrija Romić, the
Councillor of Sports and Youth Affairs at the Local Government
of Subotica, Ildikó Lovas, Councillor of Cultural Affairs at
the Local Government, Josip ©ebeąćen, the trainer of the
local table tennis club, Erzsébet Ivanović, the Head teacher
of the technical Secondary School of Subotica, as well as the
teaching staff of the school, and many others.
I also think it is important that a particular region is
represented, personalized by a “face”. This
authentic personality for me is Dezső Kiss, who excelled not
only in organizing the movement, but also in ensuring the ever
so important media coverage. He deserves our thanks for that. I
am sorry for not being able to be with you tonight because of my
injury, but please feel that I am there in my thoughts.
The Hungarian Association of Midnight Sport Championships is
represented today on the highest level by Péter Jakab, the
President of the Association. The bridge between the two
countries is being built with the co-operation of himself and
Dezső Kiss – and with the help of sport.
I wish everyone a good time, exciting games and a lot of
success!

I really like your web-site, both its contents and the
technical solution, congratulations on it! I will add it to my
Favourites! When continuously updated it will be an excellent
advertisement of night sport in Vojvodina. The Serbian version
can be read by the whole country and this could motivate the
work of other similar organizations too.
It would be nice to have some articles translated to Serbian
from the web-site of MÉSE too, so this could create a bridge
between the professionals working in similar fields and the
youth doing sports as well in the two countries.

Dear Mr Kiss!
My mother wrote to me a few days ago, and she gave account of
her visit in the Club with great enthusiasm. She also sent me
the link to the website, so I could see what your Club is
actually engaged in. It is quite remarkable and I hope that more
and more young people will join it, and will have a chance to
learn from these noble people and from each other about the
bright side of life, and to understand as early as possible that
it doesn’t take so many things to be happy. I’m
sure, as my mother told me about it, that there is a great
atmosphere in the club, and the kids enjoy the conversation and
the common activities. It‘s
pity that the concept behind this initiative is still in
infancy there, and only few people understand how much it could
change the life of the youth taking part in it. This programme
should be supported on a national level and continuous financial
resources should be provided for its implementation and
expansion.
I wish you a lot of success for all this again, and as soon as I
get back on my feet I’m sure I will also be able to
support the programme too.

DEAR DEZSÕ,
I’ve just read the “moonlight” website.
I’m very happy to have found out more about the activities
of the Club. I read some articles about it in "Suboticke
novine" and "Magyar Szó" but it was not
described in such great detail there. It is true that only a few
kids are visiting it yet, but as you said, it is mostly poorer
kids who are interested in it, the better-off ones are sitting
in cafés and are drinking beer or using drugs. This is our
golden youth. Maybe it’s not even their fault, but much
more that of the parents, and the age which we live in after the
chaotic times.
I don’t know if you advertise the existence of these clubs
somewhere, but maybe it would be a good idea to put out fliers
or posters in schools so that even more youngsters find out
about it.
Maybe the students and
participants could write their opinions and ideas on this
website too?
I was already happy to read about the foundation of this club
last summer, especially when I read that you were the main
initiator here in Subotica. I know that there are similar night
sport centres in Canada, and of course Hungary too, and
I’ve always thought that it’s a pity that there are
no such centres here, because there isn’t enough money for
them. Now you proved that something valuable can be created from
“nothing” or “a little” too, it only
takes a positive attitude and a lot of love for the kids. It is
a pity that I’m not in the shape anymore to help somehow,
if not else, I could spread the butter on the bread. I really
wish this enthusiastic little team a lot of success in
establishing as many clubs of this kind as possible.

Report
It is clear for everyone that the Moonlight Club has more
children than the street. Many parents aren’t even aware
that their children use drugs, smoke, steal, or is just loafing
in the streets instead of doing some kind of sport (e.g.
basketball, football, table tennis, volleyball or some other
sport).
Our trainer is Josip ©ebeąćen,
or by his nickname Ćoćo,
and the teacher is Dezső Kiss, and he is the boss, he organizes
the tombola. My responsibility is recording the competitions. In
my class there is a boy, Stefan Konstadinović,
who has been playing table tennis for about 4-5 years. He has
already been qualified for the national championship. He is a
very good player and never misses a training. He trains in the
Spartacus table tennis club, and his trainer there is Ćoćo. Maybe some of us can become
like him too thanks to the trainer and our teacher. There is
about 40 of us in the Club and the best ones (or some of them)
are the following: Attila Kalamica, Ákos Nagy, Endre Nagy,
Branislav Simin, Teodora, Izabela, Norbert T., Robi, David and
of course the VIKINGS (Dejan Heralić and Norbert Siraki), Siniąa, the Juhász brothers, and some more students from the
school. The teacher from ME©C are also
there with us, as well as Marko, the soldier, who is very kind to
us.
