THE ROOM IS BECOMING
SMALL AND CROWDED
IN THE MOONLIGHT CLUB 1
27 November, 2005
More
and more kids are visiting the Club. Their number is continuously
around 30, which is the double of the Club’s accommodation,
since we only have two ping-pong tables for the players. The
porters of the school – Geza, Miloą, Zoli and Dragan – have
considerable experience in dealing with youth, and have a true
teachers’ attitude towards them. At f “peak periods” they
invite smaller children to play in the ground floor entrance hall,
who there form circles and serve the ball to each other with the
bats.
The
youngsters are relaxed, genial and sociable,
which is important because only in such free and informal
atmosphere is it possible to approach and truly come to know them.
They help in making the sandwiches and the bread with butter,
which has now become the trademark of the Moonlight Club.
This
month several guests have visited the Club. Four
parents are regular visitors. They accompany the children
or come to pick them up, and while they are there they sit around
and enjoy, almost relive the joyful game of their children, as
they abandon themselves to playing, and they always speak highly
of the Club. Radmila Vukadin, the journalist of Subotičke Novine,
and Mihály Novák, photo-reporter, as well as Andrea Vaci and
Zsolt Szendi from the Red Cross of Subotica, and Béla Mészáros,
the senior trainer of the table tennis club Spartak
were all our guests.
The
Head Teacher of the school, Erzsébet Ivánović
gave two dominoes and two chess
sets to the youngsters as presents, to be able to spend the time
while they are waiting for the ping-pong games with varied and
entertaining activities. Not only the youngsters, but the adults
were also delighted with the gifts.
Little
by little donors have also appeared. We have received gifts from
the pizzerias from the neighbourhood: the Vento, Denis and Kaffe
Neptun pizzerias. We felt that it was time to organize our first
official night home table tennis championship. The competition was
held on 24 November, 2005. The preparations and the umpire tasks
were carried out by the trainer, Josip ©ebeąćen, using the
Berger method. The number of visitors this night was 32, and 21 of
